Why you need a gaming mouse

I was one of the guys that gamed on an old ten dollar mouse from target or walmart for the longest time. I thought that the advantage of a more expensive gaming mouse wasn't worth the price. There are a lot of situations in life in which the added cost doesn't add that much benefit. A gaming mouse for someone who plays games often is not one of those situations.

Advantages of the Gaming Mouse

There are quite a few advantages that a gaming mouse will have over the cheap mouse. One advantage that it will have is the ability to customize buttons and the fact that a gaming mouse had more buttons. If you are into FPS (First person shooter) games, the added precision will be a huge advantage. Also, most people won't use all 2000 dpi a gaming mouse offers, but the ability to do so is very nice. One of biggest advantages, in my opinion, is the ergonomics of a gaming mouse. If you are going to be playing games for long periods of time without a break, it is a great idea to have a mouse that is comfortable. Some generic, cheap mice are ok when it comes to comfort, but I have had trouble finding a more comfortable mouse than the mx518.

One last advantage that a gaming mouse has is that most gaming mice disable the sleep mode off the laser. With a cheap mouse, if your mouse goes into sleep mode, their can be a bit of a lag when coming out of sleep mode. This can be a huge disadvantage in games in which you may be sitting still for a few seconds, but then need to react very quickly. An example of this is pretty much any type of sniper in a game. You may have your crosshair on a small spot for a few seconds and a little bit of mouse lag can cause you to miss your shot.
